This course teaches the technique of Hikidashi-guro using glazes made by Master Soukei Aoyama. Hikidashi-guro is a traditional type of pottery from the Mino region, known for its jet-black color achieved by rapidly cooling the pottery after firing at over 1100°C.
After shaping the clay on the wheel, it is fired without glaze. The kiln can be fueled by gas and wood, with the option to use either.
**Recommended for**: Beginners, intermediates, and advanced users.
**Firing Instructions**: A 35cm x 40cm x 60cm wood-fired kiln is used.
